Pensacola State College Charter Academy is excited to announce the appointment of Kathryn Larson as its new assistant principal. A proud Pensacola native, Ms. Larson brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the local community, making her an invaluable addition to the academy’s leadership team.
Ms. Larson’s roots run deep in Pensacola. A graduate of Pine Forest High School, she was honored in the Senior Hall of Fame. Reflecting on her time there, she fondly recalls, “I’m not sure if my class’s picture frame is still on the wall in the front office. It’s been so long that they may have made room for newer classes, but when I worked as a teacher there, it was fun to send my students to find me on the wall.”
Her teaching career at Pine Forest was marked by significant accomplishments, including earning highly effective VAM scores, a prestigious recognition awarded to teachers who demonstrate exceptional student growth based on state assessments. Furthermore, the Florida Department of Education selected Ms. Larson for its High Impact Teacher Cohort, underscoring her dedication to educational excellence.
Ms. Larson’s academic journey is equally impressive, with degrees from Pensacola State College, Florida State University, and the University of West Florida. She is currently pursuing a second master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology and has aspirations to earn a doctorate from the University of Florida. “I’d like to complete my unofficial seal of Florida higher education,” she says.
Principal Dr. McCabe expressed her enthusiasm for the new addition to the team, stating, “We are thrilled to have Ms. Larson join our academy. Her proven track record of excellence in education and her commitment to our community make her a perfect fit for Pensacola State Charter Academy.”
Ms. Larson’s appointment signals an exciting new chapter for the academy, one that promises continued growth and a strengthened focus on student success. Her leadership will no doubt have a lasting impact on both students and staff, ensuring a bright future for Pensacola State College Charter Academy.
