This month, we are thrilled to spotlight Reese Goff, who has secured a job as a Kennel Technician through her capstone project. From a young age, Reese’s love for animals was evident, as she spent her time outdoors looking for lizards and frogs and grew up with dogs in the house. She also discovered a passion for agriculture in eighth grade when she joined an agriculture class and participated in FFA (Future Farmers of America) competitions and events. Inspired by watching episodes of The Incredible Dr. Pol, an animal vet who also works in agriculture, Reese decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine so that she could care for animals while continuing to explore her agricultural ambitions.
While shadowing her mentor at her local animal hospital, Reese gained valuable insights into the veterinary field. She learned the importance of staying calm during surgeries and discovered the diverse paths to becoming a veterinarian. Reese also developed a deep appreciation for the vital role of kennel techs, who ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.
This summer, Reese is excited to work as a Kennel Technician at the same hospital, where she will continue to build connections and gain experience for vet school. Despite the challenges, Reese finds that the rewarding moments, such as seeing pet parents’ relief when they are reunited with their healthy animals, make it all worthwhile.
