This year marks an exciting milestone for the Pensacola State College Charter Academy as it proudly announces the establishment of its Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). The newly formed PTSA is set to make a significant impact with a dedicated team of parents stepping into key leadership roles. Meet the enthusiastic leaders driving this initiative forward:

Jenni Lee Boyden, President
Jenni Lee Boyden brings 30 years of educational experience to her role. Boyden has worked with children, youth, and adults in various capacities, including as a math tutor, Director of Christian Education, Christian Education teacher, and Special Education teacher’s aide.
Boyden holds an associate’s degree from Pensacola Junior College, a degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from the University of West Florida, and a three-year Certification in Christian Education and Youth Ministry from The Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. She has been married for 32 years and has three children and one granddaughter who attends the Charter Academy.
A firm believer in education and service, Boyden has served on numerous committees throughout her career. When her granddaughter enrolled at the Charter Academy, Boyden learned about the formation of a new PTSA and attended county PTSA training. She quickly recognized the importance of a PTSA for the school community, emphasizing the inclusion of students.
Boyden’s goals for this year’s PTSA include fostering diversity, educational support, staff collaboration, communication, student wellness, advocacy, and membership. The PTSA is also establishing essential logistics and forming committees for Budget/Finance, Bylaws/Standing Rules, Communication, Fundraising, Membership, Nominating, and Events which include special committees for Prom and Graduation. By building a strong partnership with the principal and school administration, Boyden aims to ensure that PTSA efforts align with school goals and effectively support staff and student needs.

Kristine Currier, Vice President
Kristine Currier supports the President and chairs meetings in her absence. She actively shares ideas to enrich student and faculty life at the Charter Academy.
An engaged parent who homeschooled her children and founded a thriving educational cooperative, Currier has always been deeply involved in her children’s education. The Charter Academy’s individualized approach and emphasis on academic excellence align closely with her educational philosophy. Joining the PTSA in a leadership capacity allows her to use her skills to benefit the community.
Currier’s goals for the PTSA this year include organizing successful fundraisers, interesting events, and enriching activities to help students fully benefit from the unique educational opportunities offered by the Charter Academy. She also aims to provide critical support for teachers and staff and serve as a liaison for parents wishing to engage with their children’s education.
One of the most exciting projects the PTSA is working on this year is organizing an amazing prom for the students. Currier is thrilled at the prospect of providing this important social event and rite of passage, recognizing the students’ hard work and academic successes.
As a parent, Currier is very grateful for the educational opportunities the Charter Academy affords its students and wishes to make these known within the broader community. Her goal for the PTSA is to support every student, parent, and staff member, assist the Charter Academy in its mandate for excellence, and help make the school a welcoming and wonderful environment for all.

Julie Harrell, Treasurer
Julie Harrell is excited to serve as the PTSA treasurer for the 2024-25 school year. She is a mother to two wonderful girls, a freshman and a sophomore, and they enjoy beach combing, boating, and traveling. After many years in commercial property management, she took a hiatus to raise her daughters in Mexico, where she became an active volunteer in their school until the family returned to the area in late 2021. Harrell is enthusiastic about serving on the PTSA Board. She believes they have a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives and experiences of students, families, and faculty by working together to create a supportive environment and unique events.

Christine Brewster, Secretary
This is Christine Brewster’s first year at the Charter Academy, where her son is in 10th grade. Christine brings a wealth of experience to the PTSA, having served on PTA boards for many years in various roles, including President and Vice President. Her extensive background in PTA leadership has equipped her with the skills and insights needed to help guide the new PTSA at the Charter Academy.
As a brand-new PTSA, Christine is eager to see membership grow and hopes to involve every family and student in the school community. She believes that a strong PTSA can make a significant difference in the lives of students, teachers, and staff. One of her primary goals for this year is to plan a memorable prom for the students, and the PTSA is already making great progress toward this goal.
Christine encourages all parents to consider joining the PTSA. She believes it is a fantastic way to stay involved in their children’s education, contribute to the school community, and meet other like-minded parents. The PTSA offers numerous opportunities for parents to get involved, whether through volunteering at events, participating in fundraising activities, or simply attending meetings to share their ideas and feedback.
Christine is thrilled to work with the current PTSA board and is looking forward to an amazing year filled with successful events and initiatives. She is confident that, with the support of the school community, the PTSA can achieve its goals and make a positive impact at the Charter Academy.

Chuck Kimball, Corresponding Secretary
As the Corresponding Secretary, Chuck Kimball is responsible for correspondence on behalf of the PTSA. Professionally, he works for Payday HR and owns and manages a real estate brokerage, Straight Forward Realty, and an insurance agency, Straight Forward Insurance Solutions.
Chuck serves on the ECUA Citizens Advisory Committee, and the Board of Directors for the Florida Assisted Living Association, where he is also the Vice Chairman of the Board for the FALA Foundation. Additionally, he is active at Momentum Church, where his family has attended for over 10 years. In his free time, Chuck enjoys participating in theater, both on stage and backstage, at Pensacola Little Theatre.
With his daughter being a senior, Chuck is helping to raise funds for prom. Having served on other non-profit boards, he is assisting the new PTSA. The primary goal this year is to ensure there is a prom and to establish the PTSA as a successful organization that will continue to support the students and faculty of the Charter Academy in the future.
Starting a new organization involves many challenging and mundane tasks, but progress is being made. Chuck and the team have just established committees and are about to advertise them to get more parents and students involved. The PTSA aims to support students and faculty through fundraising, events, community involvement, and opportunities to help the Charter Academy grow.
