As the new school year kicks off at Pensacola State College Charter Academy, students are set to benefit from the expertise and guidance of their newly appointed school counselor, Jessica Howie. Two talented students from the Charter Academy recently had their artwork showcased at the inaugural Juried High School Awards Exhibition, held from June 10th through August 2nd at the Charles W. Lamar Studio on the Pensacola State College, Pensacola campus.
Pensacola State College Charter Academy was among 14 public schools in Escambia County to earn an “A” grade for the 2023-2024 academic year from the Florida Department of Education.
Charter Academy is bursting with pride as it marks a landmark achievement this year with the graduation of 45 talented seniors, 23 of whom also earned their associate degrees. These exceptional students were celebrated at the 2024 Pensacola State College Spring Commencement Ceremony on May 10, a powerful tribute to their hard work and dedication.
Pensacola State College Charter Academy is making waves in education, as evidenced by the glowing testimonials from its enthusiastic parents. Mohammed (Mike) Slassi, Ph.D., shared his excitement about the transformative experience his son, William, has had at the Charter Academy. In just a few months, William has shown remarkable growth, both academically and personally. “William has matured significantly in his cognitive abilities and social-emotional skills,” Dr. Slassi said. “He has taken charge of his future, becoming a responsible young adult with clear goals.”
Tin Tran’s “Weave the Clouds, Forge the Waves” was selected Best of Show at the 2024 Juried High School Awards Exhibition ceremony. Hosted and juried by Pensacola State College’s Anna Society members, the exhibition is on display in the Charles W. Lamar Studio until Aug. 2. The awards ceremony held June 25 featured a collection of artworks by Escambia County and Santa Rosa County high school juniors and seniors.

Pensacola State College’s Planetarium and Space Theater will show “Apollo and Beyond: Conquering Gravity” on Friday, July 12. The showing is set for 6-7 p.m. in the planetarium located in the Baroco Center for Advanced Technology, Building 21, on the Pensacola campus at 1000 College Blvd.
